From the oils themselves. The formula is built on a botanical lipid complex of grape seed, olive, jojoba, sacha inchi and sea buckthorn, and sea buckthorn in particular carries a deep golden tone. Nothing is added to colour the balm. Because these are plant oils, the shade can vary very slightly from batch to batch, which is normal and does not affect how the cleanser performs.
Neither. Most deep cleansers take more than they give, so skin feels tight afterwards. This one is lipid-rich, built on olive-derived phytosqualane, which closely mirrors the skin's own oils, so it lifts away what you want removed and leaves what your skin needs. It rinses to nothing, with no residue and no tightness, and skin feels conditioned rather than squeaky.
Yes, including long-wear make-up, eye make-up and sunscreen. It is a balm that melts to a milk with water, which is exactly the texture that dissolves make-up. Apply the balm to dry skin and massage, so it can grip make-up, SPF and the day’s pollution. Add warm water and it transforms into a milk that rinses clean, or lift it away with our muslin cloth. One thorough cleanse is usually enough, though you can repeat it in the evening if you have worn heavy make-up.
It was designed with dry and sensitive skin in mind. Phytosqualane mirrors the skin's own oil chemistry, a bio-mimetic saccharide complex binds moisture through the cleanse, and Morinda Citrifolia, a noni-plant active grown by plant cell culture, is included for its comforting properties. There is no foaming agent to disrupt the barrier. If your skin is oilier or you are prone to congestion, it still works well, simply rinse thoroughly.
Nothing performs well on stripped or unprepared skin.
