Furiously Curious: Meet Susie Willis, Founder & CEO

Entrepreneur, and lifelong believer that consumers deserve to know exactly what they’re buying. Susie founded and successfully exited her first business before spending a decade in beauty. Romilly Wilde grew out of what she saw there, and what she believed needed to change.

A note from Susie

“I’m furiously curious about how we can improve our health, our core biology and how we function.”

I spent ten years in beauty watching consumers become more informed, more curious and much more demanding, while much of the industry carried on talking to them in exactly the same way, with bigger promises and very little evidence of what was actually happening in the skin. I knew there had to be a better way. My background in nutrition taught me to think about the body as a system, and that changed the way I looked at skin. It also gave me a deep fascination with the chemistry of ingredients: what each one brings to a formula, and how they work together. I started to see skin as a living organ, with its own architecture, proteins and biological processes. If we could understand and measure those properly, we could make skincare differently. Then I discovered proteomics and that was the moment everything clicked!

It gave us a way to look beyond the surface and actually measure what happens to the proteins that keep skin functioning. And it gave me the foundation for the kind of skincare company I’d wanted to build for years: one where science isn’t a story we tell you. It’s the evidence behind what we make. That’s Romilly Wilde.
