Founder Q&A: Meet Estée Lalonde, Founder of MIRROR WATER
By Susie Willis
We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Estée Lalonde. Creative director, YouTuber and podcast host with an astounding 678,000 Instagram followers and over a million YouTube subscribers, Estée tells us all about her ‘extension of self’ – her brand, MIRROR WATER. From what motivated her to launch, how she hopes to impact people with her brand and who she’d love to meet, dead or alive!
What motivated you to start Mirror Water?
MIRROR WATER was born out of the need for genuine connection, and community. I wanted to build an online space where we could come together, be our whole selves and indulge in whatever makes you feel good.
What is your number one skin health tip?
Hydration, hydration, hydration!
What are your desert island wellness must-haves?
Moisturiser & a lip balm. I’m all about keeping my skin hydrated at all times. Oh and SPF 50 of course!
What do you wish your younger self had known about?
SPF! Wear it and you thank me later.
What’s a night care ritual that’s non-negotiable?
Removing my makeup properly is non-negotiable for me. My skincare routine is one of my favourite parts of my day. I look forward to it each night and never miss it - even if I’m exhausted.
How do you hope to impact people with your brand?
I want people to be inspired to take time to relax, self-reflect and grow, to positively affect their relationship with themselves & the world around them.
Dead or alive: Who would you most like to meet and why?
That’s such a tough one, but the obvious answer for me is Oprah. No explanation required.
What is the hardest challenge you've faced on your Mirror Water journey?
I think delegating was tough for me at first. MIRROR WATER felt like my baby, so it was hard to release control. However, it had the best outcome because I now have a team of incredible women behind me!
Would you do it all over again?
One thousand times yes! Even when it’s challenging, I love this brand and genuinely get excited about work every day!
What do you do for inspiration when things get tough?
I love to get out of London and get quiet. I think my best ideas come to me in a relaxed state, when I am doing something simple like walking my dog or having a bath.
Would you say that your brand reflects your personality, if so how?
Launching MIRROR WATER was such a natural progression of my career that I would say it’s an extension of me. Everyone knows how much I love being at home or in nature, so I think it reflects my personality really well.
"What is meant for you will not pass you by."
Would you say you were a risk taker?
I like to take educated risks ;)
Do you have an inspirational quote that motivates and reassures you?
What is meant for you will not pass you by, always gives me so much comfort & freedom when I’m feeling stuck, or unsure about the next move.
